25 years ago, a global revolution started in Cairo when 179 world leaders met at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) recognized that individuals have a basic human right to make free and responsible reproductive choices. The ICPD programme of action stressed that women's empowerment is a precondition to development. Despite progress in the Arab region, the quest to fulfil ICPD promises for everyone remains challenging. #ICPD25

لم يتخط عمر نادية السادسة عشر عندما اضطرت للهرب من بلدتها بالعراق تحمل طفلاً في أحشائها في شهره الخامس، ورضيعًا على ذراعها بالكاد أكمل عامه الأول. كانت داعش سيطرت على بلدتها (الحويجة) قبل ذلك بعامين، وفي تلك الليلة، استمر القصف فترة طويلة مما دفع بالعديد من الأسر للهروب من منازلهم في منتصف الليل في محاولة للوصول لمخيم ديبكة للنازحين. بعد مرور أربعة أعوام على بدأ القتال في بلدتها وبعد أن مرت نادية ذات الثمانية عشر ربيعًا بزواجين وولادتين واضطرارها للنزوح، أصبحت تجد الحديث عن المستقبل صعبًا. شاهد مشوار ناديا في الفيديو أعلاه.

Nadia was only 16 when she grabbed her toddler and fled her house in Huwaija, Iraq, while five months pregnant. ISIS had taken over their town two years earlier and, on this fateful night, persistent bombing drove Nadia and many other families out from their houses in the middle of the night. Four years after fighting first broke out in her small town, the 18-year-old Nadia now finds it difficult to speak of the future. أدت أزمة الموصل إلى نزوح آلاف الأشخاص. وكانت خدمات الصحة الانجابية محدودة للغاية في المنطقة وتم تدمير العديد من المرافق الصحية. فسارع عندها صندوق الأمم المتحدة للسكان وأنشأ مستشفى ميداني للولادة في حمام العليل على مقربة من الخطوط الأمامية بحيث يتم تحويل أي مرضى محتملين يمكن ارسالهم الى المستشفى الميداني للولادة لتلقي الرعاية الطبية.

The Mosul crisis led to the displacement of thousands of people. There were very limited maternity services in the region and a lot of the facilities had been destroyed. UNFPA stepped up to the plate and created a maternity field hospital in Hammam Al-Alil, close to the front lines so that any potential patients who could evacuate be evacuated the maternity field hospital for medical care.
