2021 Annual Report | UNFPA Iraq
This annual report shows how funds entrusted to UNFPA in 2021 contributed to improving the conditions and well-being of thousands of vulnerable women and young people across Iraq by preventing and protecting them from any form of GBV, providing them with free and equal access to essential sexual and reproductive health services and empowering them to make informed choices.
In Her Words
In Her Words aims to amplify the voices of adolescent girls in humanitarian settings throughout the Arab region, including Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, and the Whole of Syria. Today, several regions in the Arab states are coping with the lasting impacts of longstanding and emerging humanitarian situations. Both the Syria and Yemen crises have marked their tenth years, while recent developments in Sudan, Ethiopia, and Lebanon have resulted in additional displacements and disruptions in community networks, placing the lives and dignities of millions of people at risk.
National Guidelines on MHPSS Human Resources Profiles and Capacity Building
The guidelines aim to create a minimum-standards framework for the human resources recruited to lead MHPSS projects in Iraq. It also helps to plan the needed training so that field teams can provide the best level of care to individuals and communities in need.

State of World Population 2021 - My Body is My Own
We have the inherent right to choose what we do with our body, to ensure its protection and care, to pursue its expression. The quality of our lives depends on it. In fact, our lives themselves depend on it.
REGIONAL HUMANITARIAN ACTION OVERVIEW - ARAB STATES: FUNDING OVERVIEW FOR HUMANITARIAN CONTEXTS
The Arab Region is witnessing compounded humanitarian crises, the effects of which have become catastrophic. Some of these are protracted, as in Yemen, Syria, and Libya, while others have become forgotten, as in Somalia and the Palestinian territories. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed even more people behind safety lines to face gender-based violence and harmful practices against women and girls, who consistently bear the brunt of the challenges resulting from these crises.
Addressing Unintended Pregnancy in the Arab Region Policy Brief 2019
Unintended pregnancy and unsafe abortion are serious public health issues in the Arab region that often go ignored, jeopardizing the health of women and families and placing a burden on society as a whole. Although family planning services have expanded in the region, and a growing number of women are using modern contraceptives. However, rates of unintended pregnancy remain high. On average, two in five pregnancies are unplanned, and half of these unintended pregnancies result in abortion, which is illegal in Arab countries (except for Tunisia) and largely unsafe, putting women’s lives and health at risk.
