On 12 March 2018, the Governor of Duhok and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Iraq organized a workshop on “Enhancing the Support for Women and Children Affected by the Conflict”. The workshop was attended by officials of government, the judiciary, religious leaders, the diplomatic community, representatives of the United Nations Agencies and the academia.

The workshop reviewed the progress that has been made in addressing needs of survivors of sexual violence and made concrete recommendations for improving the legislative and policy reforms, ensuring accountability for sexual violence perpetrators, and provision of social and livelihood services for sexual violence survivors. At the end of the workshop, a committee was formed to draw a concrete action plan for implementation of the workshop recommendations.
