UNFPA Iraq Representative to Iraq, Dr Oluremi Sogunro, met on 21 July, with the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Mr Hameed al-Ghazi and the Census Consultant, Dr Mehdi Al-Allak.
During the meeting, the conveners discussed the 2020 Census for Iraq.
Dr Sogunro reiterated UNFPA’s support to the Government of Iraq & the Ministry of Planning in the provision of technical support during all stages of the census implementation.
They also evoked the visit of UNFPA Regional Director for the Arab States, Dr Luay Shabaneh to Iraq during which he will meet with government officials to discuss UNFPA country plan document for Iraq and the upcoming 2020 census.
