UNFPA supports five women shelters across Iraq run and managed by the Ministries of Labour and Social Affairs in the Federal Government and in the Kurdistan Regional Government.

The goal of the shelter is to create a safe community for women and girls at risk or survivors of gender-based violence, especially domestic violence, through the provision of an immediate and temporary shelter, in addition to the delivery of emergency specialised services.
